Punta Suarez can easily count as one of the most coveted visitor sites of the Galapagos. This visitor site is located on the western point of Española Island (hence the name) and consists of a trail of about 4 km (2 miles) in length. The trail passes among colonies of blue-footed and Nazca boobies, to then cross the the nesting sites of Albatross (which are present only from May until December), ending at a plateau with fantastic views of the blowhole known as “El soplador” (the blower) that sprays water some 25 m (75 feet) into the air. Apart from the birds, Punta Suarez is also home to sea lions, large marine iguanas, oystercatchers, Española Mockingbirds, lava lizards and the impressive Galapagos hawk.
